Although the castle was stripped of most of its original furniture, the building has been taken care of. As unlikely as it is, the library room’s furniture has remained mostly intact, with only the mirror and the glass parts disappearing.

The castle with an area of 1100 square meters was well furnished, had a well-kept park in front of it, with a tennis court and a trotting field next to the park. The family lived happily and comfortably on the estate until its nationalisation. Their dreams were crushed in a single moment. The only luck to be found among the misfortunes is that the castle served as a hospital, then as a retirement home, then finally as a mental asylum.

After the events of 1989, ownership of the castle and the five hectare land belonging to it was restored to the family’s inheritors. The castle is currently the property of the County Council, as the mental asylum had already functioned there for a long time, and it was cheaper to buy the castle than to pay a huge sum monthly as rent.

Property status: it is the property of Sălaj County Council.
