The person holding ownership of the castle in the 19th century, Dániel Mihály, is supposed to have descended from the Dániel family: A family of Armenian origin from Mintiu Gherlii / Szamosújvárnémeti / Deutschendorf. Due to the fact that there is no evidence indicating a marriage between the Dániels and any of the land-owning families from Gănești/Vámosgálfalva, it is safer to assume that they obtained the substantial estate by purchasing it. Dániel Mihály’s son was the castle’s second owner, it was from him that the state expropriated the estate in 1949.

The main building from the hilltop, as well as the complex stretching along the left side of the yard, comprised of farm-buildings and servants’ quarters, are all the result of constructions during the second half of the 19th century. The well-positioned, pillared, neoclassicist building with tympana has not undergone any modifications. The same cannot be said for the farm-buildings and servants’ quarters, which have undergone significant modification.

After nationalisation, the building-complex functioned as a farm for the Băgaciu/Szászbogács/Bogeschdorf state economy. Following the events of 1989, the descendants of the Dániel family regained ownership of the estate after suffering through the usual bureaucratic hastle. They later sold it to two saxon siblings, who have since established a guest-house in the main building, as well as a restaurant and a wine cellar in the out-houses.
